2.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Identity Data: Full name, date of birth, student year group or academic level (GCSE, A-Level, IGCSE)
• Contact Data: Email address, phone number, home country or city
• Account Data: Username, encrypted password, profile photo
• Educational Data: Subjects studied, exam board (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge), current grades, tutoring goals
• Payment Data: Billing name and address only — card details are processed securely by our payment provider and never stored on our servers
• Communication Data: Messages sent via our contact forms, email, or WhatsApp support

When data is no longer required it is securely deleted or anonymised so it can no longer be linked to you personally.

TutorGem provides tutoring to students of all ages including children under 13 and under 18. We take the privacy of young learners extremely seriously.

• Accounts for students under 18 must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
• We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide tutoring services to younger students.
• We do not serve behavioural advertising to users identified as children.
• All tutors are verified and background-checked before working with minors.
• Parents may contact us at any time to review, update, or delete their child’s data.
• Online tutoring sessions for minors may be monitored for safeguarding purposes.

• SSL Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and tutorgem.com is encrypted using SSL/TLS.
• Secure Password Storage: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms — never stored in plain text.
